Two-year workaversary
On June 12, I celebrated(?) my two-year workaversary. I have been unhappy with my workplace for quite some time, so I never pictured myself staying this long. When our previous manager quit, I took over his role, which became a nice switch up during a time when I felt burnt out. I've had several meetings with upper management about being promoted to a salaried position, which would be really nice. Mainly, I'm just looking forward to getting a raise.
The workload at my job has been quite intense lately. We have been working mandatory overtime for the last several weeks, which, don't get my wrong, has been great for my bank account. But, Most of my coworkers hate their jobs. Our work environment is so messy and chaotic that I think I hate my job too (sometimes). The CEO is simply put—a bad business owner. There is constant work drama and gossiping, which can be entertaining at times, but mostly it's just depressing. When the higher-ups are constantly complaining, moral gets really low.
I start classes in a copyediting program in July, so I feel motivated now more than ever to put in work to get out of my current job.
